In cooler countries, an AC service once a year is enough. In Dubai, the AC works much harder and the air carries much more dust, so the schedule is different.
The simple rule: twice a year
Most technicians in Dubai recommend a full service at least twice a year: once before summer, around March or April, and once after it, around October or November. The first gets the unit ready for peak load. The second cleans out the dust and mould that built up over the hot months.
Clean filters every month
Between services, rinse the filters every two to four weeks in summer. It takes a few minutes and keeps airflow and electricity bills in check.
Service more often if
- Someone at home has allergies or asthma
- You have pets
- The building is near construction or a busy road
- The AC runs day and night, like in a shop or office
Duct cleaning
For ducted systems, plan a full duct clean every one to two years, or sooner if you notice dust from the vents or a musty smell.
